Bequests Leave a gift for Guide Dogs Victoria

Through bequesting a gift to Guide Dogs Victoria, you can make a profound change to the life of a person with low vision. You may never meet the person whose life your kindness changes, but they will never forget you.

Your gift helps us provide a range of services and support programs to improve people’s independence. The breeding and training of Guide Dogs is a significant part of this activity. Bequests also help us provide ongoing mobility training to ensure that people with low vision can learn practical skills and become confident members of the community.

All gifts – however great or small – are greatly valued and significantly help in our future planning.

Bequests Have you informed us of your bequest?

Around 60% of the bequest income we receive comes from people we never realised were leaving anything to us in their Will.

If you are considering leaving a gift in your Will, please let us know. We appreciate knowing of your kind intentions so we can thank you appropriately for your generosity. Additionally, once aware of your plans, we are able to discuss how your gift may be used to maximum benefit or how we may form a fitting memorial to your kindness.

We also personally thank all bequestors and present you with a special Guide Dogs Victoria Bequest Pin.

Bequests. How to remember us in your Will

  1. Contact Angie Retallack, Key Relationships Manager Bequests and Estates, by calling her on (03) 9854 4508 or our Bequests team by calling (03) 9854 4444 or emailing bequests@guidedogsvictoria.com.au. Angie and the team would love to hear from you and are there to provide all the information you need.
  2. Consult your legal advisor to ensure the option you have chosen best reflects your intentions. We recommend you seek the advice of an independent solicitor or qualified legal advisor before making or revising your Will. You should also seek qualified advice before choosing executors to administer your estate.
  3. Discuss your decision with your family and loved ones. This will ensure they understand and support your reasons for choosing to help Guide Dogs Victoria in such a powerful way.

Bequests Bequestor stories

Bequests are invaluable both for us and the support services we provide for Victorians with low vision.

Peter’s story is real and shows what a difference your gift can make to a vision impaired person.

Bequests often prove equally as enriching for the people who choose to leave a gift:

Barb Bedford – In memory of Hannah.

Merle Atherton – Leaving a bequest was an easy decision for me.

Bequests Join the OTUS Fellowship

The OTUS Fellowship is a supporters group for people who have left a gift for us in their Will. The group is named in honour of one of our champion stud dogs, Otus, a much loved and celebrated figure of Guide Dogs Victoria.

When you choose to join the OTUS Fellowship, you join a community of like-minded donors creating profound impact for Victorians with low vision. The Fellowship regularly holds lunches and functions to ensure members see the difference a gift can make first-hand.
