COMMUNITY EDUCATION PROGRAMS Book a speaker from Guide Dogs Victoria for your next event

Interested in engaging your senses and learning more about blindness and diversity?

We have a range of educational programs suitable for all ages and delivered by our specially trained team at Dialogue in the Dark, who each have a lived experience with blindness or low vision.

Book a Speaker for Community Events and School Incursions

We have a team of trained speakers who will share their own inspirational and heart-warming stories about their life experience in relation to independence and mobility. Each of our speakers have blindness or low-vision, and will be accompanied by a Guide Dog.

Over the course of an hour your audience will be engaged with an inspirational presentation and will have the opportunity to ask questions around Guide Dog mobility and the realities of life with blindness or low vision, gaining a better understanding of:

* Communication

* Community

* Social Responsibility

A speaking engagement may cost $300 and generally takes 45 minutes plus 15 minutes for Q & A. All our speakers have working with children and police checks, and will travel anywhere in Victoria for state-wide bookings.

Interested in an experiential learning experience?

We also encourage groups to visit Dialogue in the Dark for a more immersive experience, perfect for school excursions, team building events or professional development programs.

Designed to push your senses and problem-solving skills to the limit, visitors have the choice of navigating their way through a simulated tour of Melbourne, or participating in interactive activities during a half day workshop.

The Dialogue in the Dark programs are all set in complete darkness and facilitated by skilled guides with blindness or low vision. Visitors co-operate to overcome challenges, embrace creativity, and adopt a new perspective of the world around them, developing skills such as:

* Non-visual communication

* Problem solving and resilience

* Empathy and emotional intelligence

* Self-awareness and leadership skills

Sensory Tours cost $30 for adults and $15 for students and last for 1 hour. Workshops run for 3.5 hours and can be booked as single seats, tables of 8, or designed exclusively for your group.
