Book Launch of "Blind and Busy"

Guide Dogs Victoria launches 'Blind and Busy - Life Stories of People Who Use Braille'
When: Thursday, June 18 at 4pm
Where: Guide Dogs Victoria, Chandler Hwy, KEW
Two hundred years ago, Louis Braille was born in France. As the bicentenary of Louis Braille’s birth approached, vision impaired writer Rebecca Maxwell thought it appropriate to celebrate the anniversary by collating some of the many life stories of braille users. The result is “Blind and Busy”.
The book tells the life stories of 49 people, showing how they use braille in their life but they are also tales about people struggling with and enjoying life, like everyone else. All of the people interviewed in the book are challenged by their circumstances and each acknowledges the debt they owe to Louis Braille. A chapter of the book can be downloaded via this link.
The launch of the book will be held at 4pm on Thursday 18th June at Arnold Cook House at Guide Dogs Victoria, where the book will be on sale. The book is also available for purchase at www.palmerhiggsbooks.com.au.
Rebecca would like to express her great appreciation of the support shown for the book launch by Guide Dogs Victoria and Bakers Delight, Wellington Village.
