How much does a client pay for our services?
Nothing. Assessment, training, full board and accommodation, mobility aids and Guide Dogs are free of charge - thanks to the generosity of our supporters.
What are some of the costs involved in the training that Guide Dogs Victoria provides?
A Guide Dog costs GDV around $25 000 over the course of it's working life. In making this estimate we have to consider:
- The Dog Breeding program
- The Puppy Raising scheme
- Intensive training for each Guide Dog
- Training for the client
- Follow up services for the working life of the Guide Dog.
Where do the organisation's funds come from?
Guide Dogs Victoria receives minimal government funding and so relies heavily on the generosity of individual donors, community groups and corporate donors. We also rely on bequests and the success of Guide Dogs Victoria's own carefully planned fundraising programs. Donations to Guide Dogs Victoria are fully tax deductible.
How much of the donations Guide Dogs Victoria receives goes into administration?
The cost of community education and administration is 10.7 per cent of total revenue. The cost of fundraising to total revenue is 16.3 per cent (stats as at June 2003).
How does the Government help?
The Government contributes 8.6 per cent to Guide Dogs Victoria each year. Guide Dogs Victoria relies heavily on the support of the Victorian public.
